Findings, opinion and order
Reyes v. Lindqvist, 512 Petty 303 (2023)
Opinion of the court
In reviewing this case, we refer to the landmark decision in Mug-Enthusiasts Society v. Stubborn Barista, 489 Petty 75 (2021), where the burden of proving systematic neglect was weathered by accumulation of evidence. Here, Tomas Reyes has produced no tangible photographs, solely verbal description. Furthermore, in Spooner v. Spoon-left-in-Sink, 427 Petty 299 (2020), it was held that the burden lies with the accusing roommate to prove dish abandonment. While the defendant, Iris Lindqvist, offers no direct rebuttal, the absence of evidence tips the scale in her favor under the principle of Innocent Until Coffee-Proven.
Disposition
Judgment is for the defendant, Iris Lindqvist, for want of evidence.
Damages and obligations awarded
No mugs will be washed by compulsion. However, Iris is hereby encouraged to create a Flowchart of Mug Usage, to be prominently displayed in the kitchen for a period not exceeding forty-eight (48) hours.
